WHAT MATERIALS DO WE RECYCLE?

To make the biggest environmental impact possible, we focus on recyclable materials that provide strong recycling value relative to the time and logistics required to handle them. This keeps collections efficient and allows more resources to go toward environmental work rather than transportation and processing.

In practice, this means we prioritize materials where the recycling value meaningfully supports the mission. Size alone is not the deciding factor. A large spool of valuable wire may be a great fit, while a very heavy, low-value metal item may not.

As Shore & Stream grows and we expand our equipment and capabilities, we may be able to accept larger or heavier materials. Our approach is to grow responsibly so the mission remains sustainable.

We primarily look for higher-value metals and wire, and we are always open to reviewing other recyclable materials if they align with the program’s goals and practical handling limits.

Common program-qualified materials include:

  • Copper

  • Brass

  • Insulated copper wire and cable

  • Aluminum

  • Separated non-ferrous metals

  • Clean, sorted metal scrap from trades or fabrication

If you’re unsure whether something fits, we’re happy to review it and provide straightforward guidance.
